What it all means.
Although citizens in El Paso had no voice in the decision to move a Triple-A baseball team to El Paso, the stadium is moving in regardless. While residents had no choice in the location of a ballpark, they do have the option to vote for how the stadium will be funded. However the future of the stadium is set as city representatives have made the decision to move the team to El Paso and expect play in April 2014 with construction starting as little as a year earlier.
The new Triple-A baseball organization is expected to assist in a complete renovation of downtown El Paso in which it makes the city a more appealing city to tourists and residents. It will not just bring income in ticket sales, but restaurants, shopping, bars, retail and much more. It will be the first in a string of additions to the border city to make the city life more attractive to everybody. Regardless of the decisions of the citizens, the stadium is planned and scheduled to built and opened within the next two years. Although the organization will be a great addition to El Paso, I do believe the citizens should have been allowed time to vote and decide on the matter.
